 FAIRMONT - Feb. 6 - Fairmont Senior's lacrosse teams will be hosting their annual Mountain State Meltdown Tournament on March 10. The tournament is a pre-season event for high school teams featuring abbreviated games at two locations. Boys teams will play at East West Stadium, while the girls will play at Fairmont State's Rozier Field, FSU's football stadium.

FAIRMONT - Feb. 21 - Tony Stingo, Coach of the Fairmont Freeze middle school team,  has announced a tentative schedule for their Meltdown Tournament. This will be the first, hopefully an annual tournament held on March 11 at Fairmont State University.

WASHINGTON, D.C - Feb. 23  Shepherd University Women defeated Howard University women 20-19 yesterday in 3 overtimes. This is the program's first victory over an NCAA D1 opponent.- Read more

MORGANTOWN - Feb. 25
- The only post graduate team in the state, da Lazy Lizards, will now be known as the Morgantown Lacrosse Club (MLC) until they find another sponsor. They are hosting the Marshall University & WV Wesleyans club teams at the WVU Rec Fields, next to the Towers. Games are 12:00, 1:00 & 2:00 PM. Go to the CALENDAR page for matchups.

SHEPHERDSTOWN - Feb. 26 - Shepherd University's women won 8-7 yesterday over Shenandoah University. Junior middie, Nicole Ruane, had six goals. - Read more

BETHANY - Feb. 28 - Bethany College lost their home opener yesterday 8-7 to Hanover College from Indiana. Freshman Trey Moore & sophomore Brandon Wessells led the Bisons with two goals apiece. Bridgeport's Kyle Lehosit had an assist. - Read more


URBANA, OHIO - Mar. 3 - Shepherd University Women won another one with a 21-6 victory over Urbana University today, bringing their record to 3-0. Buckhannon-Upshur grad, Emily Brumley, had 19 saves for Urbana. - Read more

FAIRMONT - Mar. 5 - The Marshall University Lacrosse Club improved it's record to 4-1 this weekend with victories over West Liberty University and Fairmont State University at FSU's spring tournament. Marshall beat West Liberty 5-4 in the second contest of the day. Tied at 4-4, with two minutes to play, a turnover by West Lib and a quick transition play for Marshall resulted in a goal for the Herd. Marshall was able to control the ball for the rest of the game for the victory.- Read more

FAIRMONT - Mar. 9 - Fairmont Senior will be holding its annual preseason tournament, the Mountain State Meltdown, on Saturday at two locations. Seven different West Virginia boys high school teams will play at East West Stadium, while all six girls teams, plus two Pennsylvania teams will compete at Fairmont State's Rozier Field. Both venues run 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and feature 25 minute running time games, with no time outs.

- The WVU Women's club lacrosse team lost to Ohio University 11-8 on Friday night at Mylan Park and hope to get back on the winning track this weekend when they travel to Toledo, Ohio and East Lansing, Michigan. The Mountaineers will play the University of Toledo and Oakland University on Saturday and Michigan State University and Ferris State University on Sunday.

CHARLESTON, Mar. 30 - Capital upset the apple cart last night by beating George Washington 8-7 at GW's field. Junior attackman, Joe Wright, led the Cougars with 5 goals and 3 assists. CHARLESTON DAILY MAIL ARTICLE

HUNTINGTON - Apr. 3 - Marshall lost to Eastern Kentucky 9-8 on Saturday in quadruple overtime. The Herd, short several players due to class commitments, teamed up with EKU to take on the University of Cincinnati's club in a 16-0 losing effort. Cincinnati is currently ranked #1 in the NCLL's D2. Marshall is now 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the Midwest South Division of the NCLL.
       The Herd, now sporting new uniforms, will host Fairmont State on April 7. They still have games with Western Kentucky, Belmont, Indiana South, and a possible rematch with EKU.

FAIRMONT - April 6 - The Fairmont Freeze girls team began their inaugural season last weekend with a loss to the well established Peters Township team from Pennsylvania. They quickly bounced back with a victory over the Morgantown Mohawks..

MORGANTOWN - April 9 - University High's game at the Kiski School, originally scheduled to be at Kiski tomorrow, has been changed to University High. The time remains the same, varsity at 7:15 PM.. JV game canceled.

SHINNSTON - April 9 - Jim Mullen, Bridgeport-Harrison's Head Coach, is still looking for a coach for the girls at Lincoln High who say they want to play lacrosse. LINCOLN HIGH GIRLS WANT TO FORM A TEAM

BRIDGEPORT - April 24 - Bridgeport-Harrison's sophomore attackman, Jordan Look (6 games, 31 goals, 3 assists, 5.67 av.), is having back surgery on Friday at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. This is Jordan's second back surgery in less than two years. According to his coach, Jim Mullen, the surgeon tells his Mom that his surgery should take care of his problems and get him back to 100% with no restrictions. Let's all pray for his recovery.
